What is the difference between an alcoholic and a drug addict? If you think about it, nothing really. Except the choice of substance...
Whether it's pills, alcohol, Meth, Cocaine, X, heroin, anything, it is still a mind altering drug. Also, you're not addicted to something until you set out for the second time. Like, if you pick up a beer or any drug and get that great sensation, then cool, you've experienced it...but if one day, whether it's the next day or a year later, you decide to pick it up again, you're "ADDICTED." No matter what you say. Same goes with every drug out there. The best bet is to NEVER to pick it up. People make mistakes and sometimes do.
We alcoholics/drug addicts need the same amount of help. We are all "SICK." We are no more or lesser than anyone in the world. We just need the help and there is no problem with asking for help.
A friend of mine once said, "SOBER means, Short Of Being Entirely Recovered." To me this meaning covers for all addicts not just alcoholics. Which is true, we'll never really be fully recovered for the rest of our lives until our day comes to pass away, clean and sober.
